STEFAN JOHANSSON LAUNCHES CARBON FIBRE WATCHES - AUGUST 2011

"Until you actually drive a modern racing car it is hard to comprehend how violent the environment inside the car is, and this is my opinion is a fantastic way to really test the watches real time" - Stefan Johansson. Test it in real time he did. Stefan Johansson brought his revolutionary new carbon fiber designs to the famed Spa Francorchamps track to be worn by he and his teammates at the recent Total 24HRS of SPA race in Belgium. The watches passed the ultimate test with flying colors withstanding the vibrations of the steering wheel while negotiating almost 10,000 corners as well as 20,000 gearshifts throughout the 24 hours and over 2,000 miles of track. The Swiss-made Valjoux movement sits in a monocoque chassis; similar to any modern racing car and as such it is not actually attached to the case itself. This suspension system not only protects the mechanical movement from violent conditions such as those experienced in a racecar but also allows for more flexibility in terms of choice of material for the outer case. Because this durable collection is machined from a solid block of aircraft grade billet carbon fiber, not the forged composite material used by many watch brands, these timepieces are unique to todays market. The dial is covered by a flat sapphire crystal on which both sides are treated with anti-glare coating, which offers a high visibility under any type of lighting conditions. There will only be 50 pieces created for each watch style, making an innovative, limited collection figuratively and materially linked to race car driving. Priced at $15,000 and available by special order ( www.stefanjohansson.com )
